Investment Workflow Integration

Supported the process redesign of investment activities for a large investment manager and service provider relationship following a recent global outsourcing initiative.  The effort included working with the investment accounting team to prioritize their activities to meet the investment reporting deadlines and creating updated checklists to coincide with the new sequencing of investment activity and transactions.  The team identified additional tasks and reports to further leverage the capabilities of the investment systems.  The engagement led to significant efficiencies which in turn shortened their timeline, allowing them adequate time to meet reporting deadlines.

Fund Accounting Control Review

Conducted a review of fund accounting processes and controls for an industry leading custodian and asset servicing provider.  Work included the detailed analysis of exception-based workflow tools to validate NAV production on a daily basis.  Identified gaps and inefficiencies for ‘quick hit’ resolutions as well as developed a strategic plan for further automation and system enhancements.  The team redesigned control and validation checks against fund activity, including setting appropriate tolerances and addressing key risk areas.

Investment Operations & Technology Review

Conducted a review of a global investment manager’s investment operations and fund accounting business which involved detailed documentation of the daily tasks performed throughout the business.  Opportunities were identified to build scalability across five global investment locations.  The engagement resulted in the implementation of a global target operating and technology model.  The team managed the implementation and developed procedures as well as established data and technology workflows.   

Enterprise Data Management (EDM)

Supported the analysis of the firm’s global data requirements in an effort to build scalability and deploy new technology.  The team led the analysis of EDM solutions for 4 vendors, including administering the RFP and scoring the vendors against the business and technology requirements.  The team worked with the client to design the future state architecture and implement the designated platform across their investment locations.  The engagement resulted in the integration of an EDM solution with front office platforms, including Charles River and Aladdin.   

Investment Accounting

Managed the implementation and system conversion for an alternatives investment management firm.  The team provided industry expertise and drove the integration of front to back technology.  Functional areas included pricing and valuation, corporate actions, trading, derivatives/OTC processing, complex management and performance fee calculations, and portfolio and investor level reconciliations.  The project resulted in significant efficiencies, automated workflows, and a reduction in costs.

Investment Management Outsourcing

Led a large middle and back-office outsourcing effort for a fully in-housed investment manager to a leading industry service provider.  Those services included fund administration, data management, performance, ABOR, IBOR, trade support, pricing, corporate actions, and data management.  We developed and implemented a future state operating and technology model for the client.  We defined oversight requirements and identified opportunities to implement best practices.    

Investment Manager Service Provider Transition

Managed the service provider transition for a large industry leading investment manager.  The engagement scope included project management, workstream development, driving the conversion, and providing subject matter expertise.  The transition included service locations across the globe; including Boston, London, Luxembourg, and Dublin.  We developed project plans, led business analysis, and drove plan execution and conversion efforts.  Services included fund accounting, custody, financial reporting, reconciliations, and investment recordkeeping.

Middle Office Outsourcing

Developed the middle-office oversight and governance model for one of the largest asset managers in financial services; outsourced middle-office functions and technology to an industry leading service provider.  Business requirements and functional specifications for technology builds and implementation were created.  We documented detailed procedures to support the transformation and training of staff.  We constructed new workflows between the client and service provider to minimize the duplication of efforts and establish a best-of-breed oversight relationship.
