
Sergio Leon Director, Client Services
Sergio is a Director at Aliter Investment Services with 20+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry. He has held management positions at large service providers where he led both fund accounting and portfolio accounting teams; as well as senior consultant roles with fund accounting platform providers where he oversaw client’s BAU needs as well as led conversion and migration efforts with new clients.
Sergio’s areas of expertise include fund accounting, fund administration, operational process improvements, platform migrations, functional gap analysis, business requirements documentation and product development. He also has a passion for client development, acting as a liaison between business functional teams, helping them properly identify and document their business and technical requirements, translating these requirements and modeling the development framework. With Sergio’s experience in operations he brings subject matter expertise in fixed income and derivative instruments within both fund and portfolio accounting.
Sergio has been involved in some of the largest industry conversions, including the conversion of $500B+ in assets from an investment manager’s in-house operations to a large global asset servicing provider. He also played an integral role in the transition of Canada’s largest life insurance company from their legacy platform to a newer multi-jurisdictional platform as well as the conversion of one of South Africa’s largest 3rd party service providers.
In addition to his experience in financial services, Sergio has a deep interest in anything technology related, and is always looking to expand his knowledge and skills with database products.
Sergio received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Clark University and has taken relevant accounting and finance follow up coursework at Brandeis University and Harvard University’s Extension School.
